Impotency - Why is that nearly everyone asked in recent surveys believe that impotence is a natural happening of the male body that comes with old age. Well this may well be true, however this is not really the case – impotence can happen to man and woman in their younger years. In the event of this happening there is normally a cause and the good news is causes can be prevented.
As we have clarified - impotence is not just caused by old age or a disease being present. Impotence is not just a physical function but a mental one too, the brain is more powerful than you know and it can cause various conditions in the body including impotence.
Functional and psychosomatic impotence
There are two types of impotence that men should know about and especially the men who fear they are already suffering from impotence. The first type is called functional. If a man is suffering from functional impotence it means that one is going through abnormal bodily functions which hinder him his ability for attaining an erection. These abnormal bodily functions cause insufficient amount of blood to travel to the penis. Functional impotence is usually caused by the body's condition like having low blood pressure or diabetes. Just like any other health issue whether it is in relation to impotency or not should be checked over by your doctor. Never take over the counter medication until you have spoken to your physician and never buy drugs (Viagra blue pills) to correct the problem from an unrepeatable source. Your doctor will need to determine a prognosis on your condition for the right treatments or medication to be prescribed or administered.
The second type of impotence is called psychosomatic. Psychosomatic impotence is usually caused more by the current mental state rather than the physical. Having anxiety attacks or reliving traumatic experiences that continue to disturb you is a major cause of psychosomatic impotence. However if anxiety is present then it needs to be treated and controlled regardless of it just affecting your performance in the bedroom.
Treatment for this kind of impotence takes a lot more time and effort to do. The only way to treat this is by talking to a psychologist and possibly going through psychosexual therapy. In psychosexual therapy, the man and his partner are advised and given techniques or exercises to help them overcome whatever problem they may have in their sexual relationship or in the case of impotency “no relationship”
Talking to someone - having discussions can help lessen the anxiety that causes this kind of impotence. Behaviour modification is another cure for psychosomatic impotence. Do not be embarrassed to speak out about your problem because you are not on your own as a sufferer of this condition. Men are being successfully treated all over the world to rise to the occasion so as to speak.
